To offer a wide variety of learning opportunities that develop and extend children’s Music skills; engaging, inspiring and challenging pupils.
To equip pupils with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own music. As pupils progress, they will be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of music. They should also know how music both reflects and shapes our history, and contributes to the cultural wealth and creativity of our nation, furthering learning by listening to the work of different musicians.
We intend our children to develop an inquiring mind in music and become self-directing learners, furthering learning by using different musical instruments and percussion, participating in different singing opportunities, and learning facts about the lives of different musicians. They will have the resilience to persevere at problem solving, find answers through a mixture of adult led and self-directed projects, by considering a challenge and developing a growth mindset.
In line with the National Curriculum, our music curriculum provides children with the opportunities to learn about themselves and make links with others through exploring different musical styles, traditions and times. Through the discipline of performing and sharing they will have a better understanding and respect of the communication of ideas, thoughts and feelings that we express through music across the world.
