St James’ Church

St James’ CofE Primary school fosters close links with our local church St James with St Lukes in Staple Tye.

We have our very own School Chaplain Rev Richard Attew who visits the school every Wednesday.

He enjoys having lunch with the children and leading collective worship.

Rev. Richard also works closely with our SLT to support the continuous development of our Christian Character throughout the school.

School Chaplaincy

It is a privilege to have been the Chaplain at St. James’ Church of England Primary School since 2015.  The staff and I work together to promote our school’s Christian Values.  By instilling these Christian Values at St. James’, we believe our children learn to be generous, inclusive, and compassionate – following the example of Jesus.

As Chaplain, I lead Collective Worship for the whole school once a week.  I help the school to mark Christmas and Easter by leading special church services at St. James’ Church in Staple Tye.  I also lead a poignant Leavers’ Service each July, celebrating the children in Year 6 as they prepare to move to secondary school.  I advise on the teaching of Christianity within the school’s R.E. curriculum, and offer pastoral support to the staff and children.

As a local Church of England parish priest – and as a parent of children who have attended the school in recent years – I know that our skilled and caring staff work extremely hard to help achieve the very best outcomes academically and socially for all of our children.  I wholeheartedly commend St. James’ Church of England Primary School to you.

Rev. Richard Attew.

Church Services at St James’ Church

The children really enjoy Rev Richard leading our termly Church services at St James’ Church, it is a great opportunity for all the staff, children and parent volunteers to come together and reflect, pray and sing celebrating God’s work through our school.

We hold a service at Christmas, Easter and an emotional leavers Service for our Year 6’s when they move on to their new Secondary Schools.
